The IEEC turns 21
Today, February 6 is the anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) as a reference center for space research in Catalonia. More than two decades dedicated to knowing the Universe, participating in several space missions of the different space agencies, and contributing in a relevant way in the knowledge of astrophysics and astronomy.

The IEEC was created in 1996 by the Catalan Foundation for Research (now the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation FCRI) with the integration of the four units that conform the institute: The Institute of Cosmic Sciences (UB) The Institute of Space Sciences (CSIC), the Center for Space Research and Research (UAB) and the research group on Space Science and Technology (UPC).
