Water rockets launch at the school Font d’en Fargas
On 21st October 2014, 6th grade students from the school Font d’en Fargas had the opportunity to build with their own hands water rockets customized by themselves and make them fly. The activity, carried out by the researcher Josep Manel Carrasco from the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (UB/IEEC), was the second time carried out at the school and caused fervour and a lot of interest among the kids, because they not only could build and fly these small ships, but due to the dynamic and graphical talk given by the researcher they could also learn the physics behind the rocket.

The European project EuroGENESIS ends successfully and opens the way to new researches in nuclear astrophysics
There is no much known, neither at a popular level nor inside the astronomy field, about nuclear astrophysics and its advances for society. For this reason, a group of 200 European and North American specialists in astronomy, astrophysics, nuclear physics, astrochemistry and cosmochemistry, coordinated by Dr. Jordi José of the Research Group in Space Sciences and Technologies (IEEC-UPC), successfully assembled isolated and interdisciplinary efforts to create a collaborative research program aimed at understanding the nuclear history of the Universe and the origin of the chemical elements, EuroGENESIS (European Science Foundation, 2010-2013). The objective of the project was to understand the chemical evolution of the Universe, from the ashes of the Big Bang to its present form, and has generated important advances in this field and pretends to drive future projects.
