Delivery of the Amaldi Medal to Sergei Odintsov
The september 15, the Amaldi Medal (European Prize for Gravitational Physics) was delivered to ICREA professor Sergei Odintsov, from ICE (CSIC/IEEC), in Alessandria, Italy. The award ceremony took place during the XXI SIGRAV (Società Italiana della Relatività Generale e Fisica della Gravitazione) conference, and Prof. P. Fre (University of Turin and attache of Italian Embassy in Moscow) and SIGRAV President, Prof. S. Capozziello (University of Naples), delivered de award.

One of the winners of a special baccalaureate award chose the IEEC for doing her internship
Each year, the Education Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya give the Baccalaureate Special Award, a recognition that award the most outstanding baccalaureate students in recognition of their merits and high preparation. One of the possibilities of this award is to stay at a research centre, and the IEEC has been chosen by Irene Cabrero, a student interested in the field of aerospace engineering.
Delivery of the Zeldovich Medal to Nanda Rea
The august 4, the Zeldovich Medal was delivered to Dr. Nanda Rea, from ICE (CSIC/IEEC), in Moscow, Russia. The award ceremony took place during the COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) meeting.
Prof. Sergei Odintsov has been selected as a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher
Thomson Reuters has selected Prof. Sergei Odintsov, ICREA researcher of the Institute of Space Science (CSIC/IEEC), as a Highly Cited Researcher in 2014. Highly Cited Researchers represent the world’s leading scientific minds and earn the distinction by writing the greatest number of reports ranked among the top 1% most cited papers for their subject field between 2002 and 2012.
The IEEC receives three students of the programme ‘Joves i Ciència’ from the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera
Throughout the month of July, the IEEC has hosted three students of the programme ‘Joves i Ciència‘, sponsored by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera. The programme aims to promote scientific vocations among high school students talented and with a lot of curiosity in science.

Daniele Viganò has been awarded with the SEA prize to the best doctoral thesis in astrophysics in 2013
We are pleased to announce that Daniele Viganò, postdoc at ICE (IEEC/CSIC), has won the Spanish Society for Astrophysics (SEA) prize for the best doctoral thesis in astrophysics in 2013, which is entitled “Magnetic Fields in Neutron Stars” and was performed at the University of Alicante. Some work has been done in collaboration with Nanda Rea, investigator from ICE.
New blog about meteorites and planetary sciences by Josep M. Trigo-Rodríguez
Josep M. Trigo-Rodríguez, with the aim of transferring his deep knowledge in meteorites to society, has created his own “SciLog” (science blog) called “Meteorites and planetary science”, in the prestigious science magazine “Investigación y Ciencia” .

Sergi Hildebrandt es un astrónomo catalán establecido en California que ha tenido un papel decisivo en el descubrimiento de las ondas gravitacionales que provienen del origen del universo. Sergi, investigador de la NASA, realizó su tesis doctoral en el Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC), bajo la dirección de Emili Elizalde.
“Viatge a Mart”, el videojoc educatiu fruit del workshop ‘Technology in Space’ de TalentLab [NOT TRANSLATED]
Un any després del workshop ‘Technology in Space’ de TalentLab, dedicat a la co-creació de recursos educatius a través de la col·laboració entre investigadors i professors i del que en va resultar el recurs “Viatge a Mart”, en format videojoc, el passat 19 de març del 2014 es va dur a terme el segon taller, en el que es pretenia analitzar el resultat i el potencial educatiu d’aquest recurs.
